Big list of self-care ideas

Self-care at it's most basic is what we do to look after ourselves, but it's much more than that. Here is a list of ideas for ways to practice self-care, there are so many more, the trick is finding ones that work for you. It's about finding your current level and working your way up. Eat a healthy breakfast (or any kind of breakfast if a healthy one is too much of a stretch)

Brush your hair

Go for a relaxing walk

Have a shower

Have a relaxing bubble bath

Think of a few things you like about yourself

Think of a few things you like about your appearance

Get into a routine of eating regular meals

Cook a healthy meal

Brush your teeth

Have a hair cut

Send some time outside

Think about what achievements you have made over your life

Go to the dentist

Visit someone who you enjoy being around

Listen to some music

Get off the internet/ phone an hour before bed

Prioritise getting enough sleep

Find a way to exercise that you enjoy

Tidy up/ declutter/ clean your living space

Clear out your wardrobe

Change your duvet cover/ bedding

Take some time out from work

Have an internet free day

Go somewhere you haven't been before

Talk to someone about how you’re feeling

Say no to something you don’t want to do (there are nice ways of doing in, honest!)

Spend time with a pet (or borrow one)

Find a new hobby

Take up an old hobby

Have an internet free day

Put down the to do list for a whole day (or weekend if you can manage it!)

Ask for help when you need it

Prioritise time to relax

Have a duvet day if you need it

Watch a favourite TV show

Get lost in a book

Have a massage

Actively schedule ‘me time’ in your diary

Look through some old photos that bring back good memories

… or simply recall some good memories

Reminisce with an old friend/ family member


...or if meditation isn’t your thing, spend a few minutes deep breathing

Spend a bit of time thinking about what you’re grateful for

Keep a diary/ journal

Draw, doodle, colour in - unleash your creativity
